CURRENT STAGE OF FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENTS IN ROMANIA

Abstract
The paper aims to present the evolution of Foreign Direct Investments in Romania after 1989. The data were provided by two institutions, each one using a different methodology for the evaluation of FDI inflows: National Bank of Romania (NBR) and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR).
The author considers that there were two stages in the FDI inflows to Romania: one after 1989 and the other one starting in 1997. The total FDI inflow is reduced as compared to other neighboring transition economies.
